SCHEDULE-IT PTY LTD is a specialist irrigation monitoring and scheduling company based in Barooga, NSW. We have exciting positions available for result driven individuals to join our team.

Agricultural Consultant – Irrigation & Horticulture

Location: Barooga, NSW (on-site / field-based)    Type: Full-time

Visa Sponsorship: Open to discussion for the right candidate

This role isn’t behind a desk. It’s boots in the dirt, hands on the probe, and real conversations with real farmers.

At Schedule it, we’re changing how Australian farmers manage water. We combine cutting-edge IoT technology — soil moisture probes, weather stations, flow meters, EC sensors — with deep agronomic expertise to deliver precision irrigation scheduling that actually works in the paddock, not just on a screen.

We’re a small, driven team that punches well above our weight. We work hard, we back each other, and we measure success by the results our clients see in their crops and their water bills. If you thrive in a culture where initiative is valued, ideas are heard, and no two days look the same — keep reading.

The Role

We’re looking for an Agricultural Consultant who’s equally comfortable digging a soil pit to assess root development as they are interpreting sensor data on a dashboard. You’ll be the trusted advisor our grower clients rely on — the person who shows up, walks the rows, understands the soil, and turns data into decisions.

What you’ll actually do

  • Get out on farm — regularly. Walk blocks, inspect crops, dig soil pits, check root zones, and understand what’s happening beneath the surface.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain IoT monitoring equipment across client properties.
  • Analyse real-time sensor data and translate it into practical, actionable irrigation schedules.
  • Build genuine relationships with farmers — understand their operations, their challenges, and their goals.
  • Work closely with our tech and support team to troubleshoot hardware, refine our platform, and improve our service.
  • Help growers optimise water use, improve yields, and adopt smarter irrigation practices.

Who We’re Looking For

You’re not just someone with a degree — you’re someone who gets farming. You understand soil, water, and plants because you’ve spent time with them, not just studied them.

You’ll bring

  • Hands-on experience in irrigated horticulture — if that includes citrus, viticulture, stone fruit, or other tree/vine crops, even better.
  • A solid grasp of irrigation principles, crop water requirements, and soil-plant-water relationships.
  • The confidence to work directly with farmers and the communication skills to explain complex data simply.
  • Comfort with technology — sensors, dashboards, data — and the willingness to learn our systems.
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset. You see something that needs fixing, you fix it.
  • A relevant qualification in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, or similar (or equivalent field experience).
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel across growing regions.

Bonus points if you have

  • A background or qualification in Soil Science — we love people who understand what’s happening underground.
  • Experience with soil moisture monitoring or irrigation scheduling tools.
  • A genuine passion for sustainable agriculture and water efficiency.

Why Schedule it?

We’re at the front edge of AgTech in Australia. Our platform is trusted by some of the country’s leading growers, and we’re growing fast. But we haven’t lost what makes us different — we still believe the best technology means nothing without the people who understand the land it serves.

Here, you won’t be a number. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, results-driven team that values practical expertise, fresh thinking, and getting the job done — together.

We’re open to discussing visa sponsorship for the right candidate — if you’ve got the skills and the passion, we want to hear from you regardless of where you’re based.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you.
