Almond conference in Adelaide

This biennial event attracted a record attendance of 600 delegates, providing a platform for industry professionals to network and discuss the latest developments in almond production.
International experts from California and Spain shared insights on advanced growing techniques, pest and disease management, and emerging almond varieties. A notable session addressed the challenges of redeveloping aging orchards, focusing on varietal preferences, rootstock choices, and planting densities.
The conference also highlighted marketing strategies, unveiling a new branding campaign with the slogan “Love almonds, they’ll love you back.” Chef and television personality Poh Ling Yeow was introduced as the new ambassador for Australian Almonds, emphasizing the nut’s versatility in both sweet and savory dishes.
The event concluded with the induction of Larry Cavallaro and Paul Martin into the Almond Board of Australia’s Hall of Fame, recognizing their significant contributions to the industry.
